Frequently Asked QuestionsWho are you guys?We are a group of musicians from Minneapolis, MN. What inspired you to create this? Realizing that waiting around to be discovered is lame, and that we could help each other make and distribute music independently. So how are you any different from an indie label? While it is true that Misplaced Music facilitates the promotion and distribution of unsigned music, our mission is to help expose all Minnesota music of artistic merit. We do this partly through our radio station, which we offer the community as a resource, free of charge. Are you guys legit? Misplaced Music has a broadcasting license through the Library of Congress, and pays royalties to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, and SoundExchange. I want to be on Misplaced Music Radio. Where do I send my material? All submissions should be sent to: Misplaced Music Radio Attn: Radio Program Director P.O. Box 50668 MPLS, MN 55405 Where do the songs on Misplaced Music come from? Submissions from local bands, mostly. With that said, we do take the liberty to play discoveries of our own. Any band who does not wish to be in our play list can contact us, and we will remove them promptly. What type of music is Misplaced Music looking for? Diversity is important to us, so all genres are welcome. All music must be made and recorded in Minnesota. Cheese heads need not apply. Okay, well maybe... I am in a band with a very small fan base, consisting mostly of our friends. Would Misplaced Music consider putting us on the radio? Yes, exposing unknown talent is one of our top priorities. I heard that Misplaced Music is looking for people to host their own radio shows. Is that true? Yep. Contact our radio program director for more information. How do I become a member of Misplaced Music? Members happen on a case-by-case basis. We are looking for creative individuals who share our vision, and are willing to contribute time and/or money.
